Illawarra Steelers Open Women’s Coach Jamie Szczerbanik has named an unchanged lineup for the first home game of the season against Wests Tigers at Collegians Sporting Complex on Sunday, 14 July.
Szczerbanik praised his team’s resilience after last week’s 8-4 Round 1 loss to Mounties. Played in tough playing conditions, which favoured the larger Mounties outfit, Szczerbanik said his team was their own worst enemy with crucial errors at times throughout the second half.
The Tigers outfit, beaten 24-18 by the Sharks in Round 1, includes two of this year’s Steelers Tarsha Gale Cup premiership-winning players in hooker Chelsea Savill and winger Darcy Eade who will line up against their former teammates. Kick-off is at 2 p.m. at Collegians Sports Complex.
