Harrigan Premiership | Match Previews

This week’s action in the Harrigan Premiership reverts to the Round 4 fixtures washed out earlier in the year. The results of two crucial match-ups potentially shaping the final four.

Ladder-leaders De La Salle, four competition points ahead of their nearest rivals and on a four-match winning streak, head to Gibson Park for a second clash with Thirroul in as many weeks.

The Butchers, who have lost their last two outings against the Shire outfit and Collegians, are under pressure to secure a win. A win is crucial for them if they hope to stay in contention for a top two finish.

Wests, currently in outright third on the ladder, hosts Dapto in the other defining game this week.

A win for Dapto would propel Blake Wallace’s men above the Devils, who have suffered three consecutive losses, including a 28-16 defeat to the Canaries in Round 10.

In the remaining game, the Cougars should head to Collegians Sports Stadium with confidence they can take the two points on offer after taking Collies down to the wire in their last game.

Please note: Venues are subject to change due to ground conditions.

The Lower Grades

In the Harrigan Plate, Avondale Wombats will be out for redemption against Thirroul, the only team to lower their colours this year.

Berkeley will host a desperate Helensburgh, fighting to remain in the finals hunt three points outside the top four. The Eagles beat the Tigers 26-0 in their last outing.

Collegians and Corrimal will resume their tussle from two weeks ago, which saw Collegians come out on top 22-18. Goal-kicking proved the difference, with both teams scoring four tries apiece. Wests host Dapto in the remaining game.

Only two games are scheduled for the Harrigan Shield, with the first-placed Avondale Greyhounds, yet to taste defeat this season, facing off against the Eagles.

In the other match, Norths will host the Wombats at Jim Allen Oval. The Wombats, currently 5th on the ladder, can’t afford a slip here if they are to remain in striking distance of the top four.
