The Steelers Junior Rep sides completed a clean sweep over the North Sydney Bears at Collegians Sporting Complex on Saturday.
In Harold Matts, the Steelers scored 10 tries to one in their 50-6 win over the Bears, with Hayden Buchanan picking up a hat-trick.
A Mia-rose Walsh brace in the first half gave the Steelers a 14-4 lead at halftime in Tarsha Gale Cup. The hosts fought off an early second-half challenge from the Bears to record a 24-10 victory.
Both teams moved into the top four in their respective competitions, while Russ Aitken’s SG Ball side kept their Finals hopes alive with a 32-20 win.
Earlier, the fledgling Lisa Fioala Cup U17s picked up their second consecutive win, defeating the Panthers 24-22 after leading 6-4 at the break.
A loss to the Steelers Harvey Norman Premiership team (pictured) was the only blight on the day for the hosts, going down 32-12 to a powerful Bears outfit. Despite a poor completion rate the Steelers were still in the fight trailing just 14-8 at half time.
However, they were unable to match it with the Bears in the second stanza. Led by classy pivot Kirra Dibb the visitors posted four second half tries in a dominant display. The Steelers drop from first to fourth on the ladder and play the fifth-placed Mounties in the next round.
The Steelers will host four grades at Ron Costello Oval, Shellharbour on Saturday 25 March, while the Lisa Fiaola team play the Tigers in Campbelltown.
